Conducted a workshop titled, “Media architecture and glitch: accidents, tangents, techniques” at the School of Arts and Humanities, CEPT from 5th to 10th March 2012 .
I gave a 2 hour talk on the connections between art and technology and my practice in that domain.
The talk was a part of the NIMBUS festival on 17th March 2012.

I have three works in the show. Work 'c' below was performed at the opening.
The works will be up here on the site soon. In relation to Paper Tiger, they look at three systems of power and control: mass media and the advertising of luxury goods; psychotherapy and the self-improvement industries.
a. Even war has limits: A modified version of the Space Invaders game (a classic arcade game) in which the confrontational process part of our social situation plays out and becomes a linguistic conflict in which accusations and cross-accusations are made easily using different constructs and arrangements of words. The game can be played with a joystick. Additional cross-accusations can be typed with a keyboard.
b. The tiger is not a tiger (but don't tell): This looks at data-mining, statistics and pattern-analysis as tactics used to produce knowledge and convey power. The process of psychological and sociological techniques being appropriated for desire-mapping, forecasting, and tightening the consumer noose is unraveled in the texts and in the functioning of the installation.
A series of images load up on a screen. We can vote for the image on the left or on the right by pressing the corresponding button. Pressing both the buttons together will take us to the score-window, which shows which image was selected how many times. Selection, here is of course meant to signify desirability and cool-sensing.
Desire of the people interacting with the installation is mapped as they select the images on the screen serially. The data of this desire is also mined along the day for analysis later in some work.
c. We are all schizoid. Sanity is just an excuse to cling on to a world that is known: Six first-person stories woven around six different contexts and forms of power. These six stories are kept on a table. We can sit and read the stories - which all begin with a preamble with specific reading directions which could help in reading the text as text, and not treat it visually as an image. There is a microphone on the table into which we can read the stories. Become the character in the text and see the anomalies that emerge in our voice as we are reading and assuming different positions and roles.
